Combining on a six-hitter, Doc Medich and Sparky Lyle hurled the Rangers to a 5-1 triumph over the White Sox. The Rangers registered three runs in the second inning. Buddy Bell smacked a leadoff double and scored on a single by John Ellis.

Richie Zisk followed with a two-bagger that plated Ellis and he later came home as Pepe Frias grounded into a double play. A sacrifice fly by Ellis drove in a fifth-inning run and the final marker came in the sixth frame on a double by Frias. [The Sporting News]
