The Mariners defeated the Indians, 9-4, snapping the Tribe's four-game winning streak. The M's scored four runs in the first inning with Dan Meyer contributing an RBI double and Joe Simpson a two-run single. Four more runs followed in the fourth on a two-run double by Bob Stinson and RBIs by Jim Anderson and Meyer.

Mike Hargrove led off the Cleveland fourth with a homer, extending his hitting streak to 21 games. Jorge Orta was stopped on his 17-game streak. [The Sporting News]
