Ray Knight hit two homers in the fifth inning as the Reds walloped the Mets, 15-4. Knight led off the stanza with a round-tripper and then connected for a grand slam to climax the eight-run frame, thus joining 10 other N.L. players with two homers in one inning. He was the first Cincinnati player to accomplish the feat. The Reds also got homers from Ken Griffey and Dave Collins.
