Doyle Alexander received credit for his first National League victory since 1971 as the Braves scalped the Phillies, 7-3. The Braves scored twice in the first inning on an error and doubles by Chris Chambliss and Jeff Burroughs. Bob Horner and Gary Matthews stroked RBI singles in the second stanza. The Braves then tallied three times in the eighth on a run-scoring triple by Chambliss, a wild pitch and solo homer by Dale Murphy. [The Sporting News]
