Dave Roberts hit his first major league grand slam and Gaylord Perry got credit for his 282nd career victory as the Rangers defeated the Orioles, 6-3. Roberts' blow highlighted a five-run fourth inning after singles by Richie Zisk and Jim Sundberg were sandwiched around walk to Danny Walton.

Jim Palmer then took over in an unusual relief appearance for the Orioles and was tagged for a homer by Mickey Rivers. Zisk also connected for the circuit in the seventh off Palmer. [The Sporting News]
