Fred Lynn knocked in one run with a double and scored another after hitting a single to enable the Red Sox to defeat the Indians, 2-1. In the first inning, Rick Burleson singled and raced home on Lynn's two-bagger.

Lynn rapped his single in the sixth and stopped at third on a double by Jim Rice. After an intentional pass to Carl Yastrzemski, Lynn scored what proved to be the winning run as Tony Perez grounded into a double play. [The Sporting News]
