Three pinch-hitters came through with hits and two pinch-runners scored as the Giants rallied in the ninth inning to defeat the Cardinals, 4-3. Milt May started the rally with a pinch-single and gave way to pinch-runner Mike Sadek.

Mike Ivie followed with a pinch-double, Sadek stopping at third. Roger Metzger ran for Ivie. Jim Wohlford came up as the Giants' third pinch-hitter and singled, driving in Sadek and Metzger with the tying and winning runs. [The Sporting News]
