Two safe bunts set up a grand-slam homer by Darrell Evans and enabled the Giants to defeat the Cardinals, 4-2. After Johnnie LeMaster singled in the fifth inning, Vida Blue popped a bunt single over the head of Ken Reitz, charging in from third base, and Larry Herndon followed with a bunt that rolled between Reitz and Cardinals pitcher Bob Sykes.
