Francisco Barrios was credited with his first victory since last July as the White Sox hung on to shade the Mariners, 6-5. The Sox took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a triple by Harold Baines and sacrifice fly by Jim Morrison and then kayoed Seattle starter Rob Dressler in the fourth.

A single by Chet Lemon, double by Lamar Johnson and intentional walk to Baines loaded the bases. Morrison was hit by a pitch to force home one run, two more came in on a single by Junior Moore and another scored on a single by Greg Pryor. [The Sporting News]
