. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Pete Rose scored from first on a single to climax a three-run seventh inning that triggered the Phillies' 6-4 victory over the Reds and made Steve Carlton the league's first seven-game winner. The Phils trailed, 4-2, in the bottom of the seventh, but tied the game on two-out, back-to-back doubles by Manny Trillo and pinch-hitter Del Unser and an RBI single by Rose.

Bake McBride then singled to right and Rose, running on a 3-2 pitch, rounded third, saw Reds right fielder Ken Griffey throw to second and kept going, beating Rick Auerbach's throw to the plate. Greg Luzinski cracked a solo homer in the eighth for an insurance run. [The Sporting News]
