Overcoming four home runs, the Reds edged the Phillies, 7-6. The Reds trailed, 5-4, when Johnny Bench reached second in the sixth on a two-out throwing error by Mike Schmidt. Ron Oester and Cesar Geronimo walked to fill the bases and Dave Collins then stroked a two-run single to put the Reds ahead. Collins' blow extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
