Pete Falcone and Neil Allen combined on a four-hitter as the Mets registered a 5-1 triumph over the Astros. The Mets scored twice in the second inning as John Stearns led off with a walk, stole second, advanced to third when third baseman Enos Cabell booted a grounder by Doug Flynn and tallied on a single by Falcone. A single by Lee Mazzilli then plated Flynn. The Mets picked up another run in the fifth and added two more in the seventh with the aid of an error by Houston second baseman Rafael Landestoy.
