. . . where the 1970s live forever!

In a battle of home runs, the Yankees outslugged the Tigers to gain an 11-inning, 9-5 victory. Graig Nettles cracked a solo homer to break a 5-5 tie in the top of the 11th and Ruppert Jones belted a three-run shot later in that same frame.

The Tigers' Steve Kemp had tied the game in the seventh with a three-run round-tripper. Duffy Dyer hit a two-run homer for the Tigers in the sixth and Lou Piniella hit a three-run homer for the Yankees in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
