A two-run homer by Ken Singleton capped an Orioles' rally in the eighth inning and produced a 5-3 victory over the Tigers. After the Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the sixth with two runs on a throwing error by Eddie Murray, the Orioles began their comeback in the eighth with the tying tally on a double by Al Bumbry and single by Rich Dauer before Singleton smashed his homer.
