Led by Clint Hurdle, who drove in four runs with a homer and two singles, the Royals defeated the Angels, 13-9. For the second time in less than one week, the Royals delivered an early kayo to Angel starter Frank Tanana, who was rapped for seven runs, three earned, in 1 1/3 innings. Although beaten, the Angels outhit the Royals, 17-16, and had three homers, two by Joe Rudi and one by Tom Donohue. [The Sporting News]
