A sacrifice fly by Tim Foli in the 13th inning scored Steve Nicosia and gave the Pirates a 5-4 victory over the Giants. Jack Clark, who had four hits in six trips, accounted for all of the Giants' runs, driving in three and scoring one.

In the 13th, Nicosia singled, Dale Berra bunted and all hands were safe on an error by Giants reliever Al Holland. Nicosia moved to third when John Milner forced Berra. Ed Halicki took over and walked Omar Moreno to load the bases before Foli delivered his decisive fly. [The Sporting News]
