Homers by Ron Cey and Reggie Smith, together with two other runs on a double steal and wild throw, carried the Dodgers to a 4-2 victory over the Cubs. Cey connected for the circuit in the second inning. In the fourth, after Steve Garvey walked and stopped at second on a single by Dusty Baker, the runners worked a double steal and when Cubs catcher Tim Blackwell threw wild to third, both Garvey and Baker scored. Smith added his round-tripper for insurance in the seventh inning. [The Sporting News] |
