The Expos rallied for five runs in the fifth inning, including two on a homer by Gary Carter, to defeat the Reds, 7-4. Johnny Bench drove in three runs with a homer and sacrifice fly to help the Reds take a 4-1 lead before the Expos erupted.

Rodney Scott singled, Andre Dawson tripled and Ellis Valentine and Larry Parrish hit doubles for three runs before Carter put the Expos ahead with his homer. Parrish added a round-tripper in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
