Three-hit pitching by Steve Rogers carried the Expos to a 4-0 whitewashing of the Cubs. The Expos scored twice in the fourth inning as Ellis Valentine led off with a single, went to third on a single by Gary Carter and scored on a double by Warren Cromartie. After Chris Speier was intentionally walked, Rogers drove in Carter with a perfectly placed bunt on a 3-2 pitch. Montreal got a two-run triple by Speier in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
