A two-run rally in the ninth lifted the Phillies to a 7-6 triumph over the Pirates. The Phils trailed, 6-5, when Mike Schmidt led off the ninth with a double and reached third on a single by Greg Luzinski, who was replaced by pinch-runner Lonnie Smith. A double by Bob Boone scored Schmidt and Garry Maddox was intentionally walked to load the bases. Larry Bowa then delivered the game-winning single.
