A two-run single by Larvell Blanks in the eighth inning lifted the Braves to a 2-1 triumph over the Giants. The Braves trailed, 1-0, when Bruce Benedict drilled a leadoff double in the Atlanta eighth that kayoed Frisco starter Allen Ripley in favor of reliever Greg Minton.

A single by Mike Lum advanced Benedict to third, but he was subsequently thrown out at the plate on a fielder's choice. a groundout by Jerry Royster advanced the runners and Blanks followed with a two-run single to center. [The Sporting News]
