An eight-run explosion in the fifth inning powered the Indians to a 10-6 triumph over the Orioles. A leadoff homer by Joe Charboneau off Orioles starter Jim Palmer began the outburst. After a single, walk and sacrifice, Jorge Orta delivered two tallies with a single. Orta then stole second and registered on a single by Mike Hargrove.

Sammy Stewart relieved Palmer and was greeted by a single by Ron Hassey. Toby Harrah walked to load the bases and Charboneau also walked to force home another run. A single by Cliff Johnson plated Hassey, and Jerry Dybzinski capped the rally with a two-run single. [The Sporting News]
