Mauling Ron Guidry, the Tigers downed the Yankees, 6-3. It was only the star southpaw's second loss in 19 decisions since last year's All-Star Game. The Tigers began the scoring in the second inning when Dave Stegman belted a two-run homer following a single by Tom Brookens. They added four more runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Richie Hebner, sacrifice fly by Brookens and two-run single by Tim Corcoran. [The Sporting News] |
