Nolan Ryan allowed only two hits and pitched the Astros to a 1-0 triumph over the Padres, completing the three-game series sweep. The Only hits given by the fireballing righthander were a double by Rick Wise in the third inning and an infield hit by Ozzie Smith in the eighth.
