. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although tagged for 11 hits, Phil Niekro was able to pitch the Braves to a 4-2 victory over the Giants. The Braves scored twice in the fifth inning. Brian Asselstine tripled and came home on a single by Luis Gomez. Niekro helped himself with a single, sending Gomez to third, and Glenn Hubbard followed with a sacrifice fly. Dale Murphy and Chris Chambliss then hit run-scoring singles in the seventh to provide the Braves' winning margin. [The Sporting News]
