. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Jason Thompson drove in a run on a single in the first inning when the Angels scored three runs and then homered with a man on base in the fifth to clinch a 6-3 victory over the Blue Jays. Luis Leal, who started for the Blue Jays, was rapped for five straight hits to open the game.

Rick Miller and Carney Lansford doubled. Rod Carew and Thompson singled and Joe Rudi doubled. Leal then retired Bobby Grich before being removed. The Angels' five consecutive safeties to start the game tied the A.L. record set by the Royals on May 18, 1980, against California. [The Sporting News]
