. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Eric Soderholm hit a two-run homer and Rick Cerone batted in two more runs with a double as the Yankees did all their scoring in the first inning to defeat the Royals, 5-3. The Yankees' first run came on a walk to Willie Randolph, single by Dennis Werth and forceout by Bob Watson. Soderholm followed with his homer. Lou Piniella then singled, Bobby Brown doubled and Cerone knocked in the deciding runs with his two-bagger. [The Sporting News]
