Jerry Martin cracked a three-run homer in the second inning to back the six-hit pitching of Rick Reuschel as the Cubs defeated the Expos, 5-2. Martin's homer followed a single by Dave Kingman and walk to Mike Vail. It was the first time since May 26, 1973 that Ross Grimsley, then with Cincinnati, had lost to the Cubs. [The Sporting News]
