Shoddy defense led to the Rangers' downfall in a 5-4 loss to the White Sox. Errors in three different innings resulted in an unearned run each time, although Chicago's winning run came legitimately.

With the score tied 4-4 in the eighth, Kevin Bell walked, advanced to third on a double by Harold Baines and scored on a fielder's choice grounder by pinch-hitter Claudell Washington. Texas came from behind to knot the score three times, pulling into their last tie in the eighth on Pat Putnam's pinch-homer off Ed Farmer, the eventual winning pitcher. [The Sporting News]
