Tommy John became the 10th active pitcher and 80th overall with 200 career victories after tossing a two-hitter, lifting the Yankees to a 3-0 victory over the Mariners. A single by Willie Horton in the second inning and a single by Tom Paciorek in the fourth were the only hits off John, who hurled his fourth shutout of the season. Bobby Murcer hit a solo homer in the sixth and Bobby Brown smashed a two-run round-tripper in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
