A throwing error by third baseman Aurelio Rodriguez in the seventh inning enabled Dave Collins to score all the way from first base with the tie-breaking run, helping the Reds to a 4-2 triumph over the Padres. Collins reached first on a fielder's choice and scored when Rodriguez barehanded a chopper by Dave Concepcion and threw wildly past first.
