The Twins and Blue Jays split a doubleheader, with Minnesota winning the opener, 5-1, behind the four-hit pitching of Roger Erickson and reliever Doug Corbett and Toronto taking the 13-inning nightcap, 6-4, on a two-run double by Barry Bonnell. In the first game, back-to-back doubles by Rob Wilfong and Mike Cubbage gave the Twins a run in the second inning and Roy Smalley and Wilfong each singled home a marker in a four-run fourth.

Otto Velez doubled with one out in the top of the 13th in the second game and gave way to pinch-runner Joe Cannon. After an intentional walk to Roy Howell, Bonnell sent home the winning runs with a drive to left-center. [The Sporting News]
