Homers by Jim Rice and Fred Lynn were the key blows as the Red Sox posted an 11-inning, 5-4 victory over the Mariners. Rice blasted a solo homer with one out in the ninth to tie the score at 4-4 and Lynn led off the 11th with his round-tripper. Boston had taken the lead in the seventh on a solo homer by Carlton Fisk but Seattle tied the score in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Julio Cruz. [The Sporting News]
