Phil Niekro hurled a three-hitter for his 223rd career victory and Dale Murphy and Gary Matthews belted home runs to lead the Braves to a 5-2 victory over the Cardinals. Murphy's blow was a three-run affair and came in the fifth after a pair of walks. Matthews drilled a two-run shot in the eighth.
