In the lidlifter, run-scoring singles by Amos Otis, Willie Aikens and John Wathan staked Leonard to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. A sacrifice fly by Wathan produced another tally in the third and Frank White drilled a solo homer in the fourth.

After spotting the Royals a 3-0 lead in the second game, the Indians tied the count on a three-run homer by Joe Charboneau in the second inning.
