The Red Sox won their fifth straight game, 7-3 over the Angels. Tony Perez stroked an RBI single in the first inning, Butch Hobson connected for a run-scoring single in the second and Carl Yastrzemski belted a two-run homer in the third.

Angels Manager Jim Fregosi, still upset over a decision made by umpire Jim Evans the previous night, was ejected from the game before it began and the Angels played under protest. [The Sporting News]
