Pushing across two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blue Jays scored a 7-6 triumph over the Rangers. With the Jays trailing, 6-5, Barry Bonnell began the Toronto ninth with a walk off Sparky Lyle, who was immediately replaced by Bob Babcock, who walked Garth Iorg. A sacrifice by Bob Davis moved the runners to second and third. After Alfredo Griffin was intentionally walked, shortstop Bud Harrelson booted Damaso Garcia's grounder, allowing the tying run to score, and Roy Howell then hit a sacrifice fly to left to plate Iorg with the winning run.
