. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Cubs defeated the Braves, 4-1, behind the combined seven-hit pitching of Mike Krukow and Bruce Sutter. Krukow struck out eight and walked none before being replaced after giving up three straight hits to start the eighth inning. Sutter came on to record his 13th save of the season.

Ivan DeJesus led off the Chicago first with a walk, stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bill Buckner. Buckner stroked an RBI single in the third inning and Jerry Martin drilled a solo homer in the fourth. The final Cubs run came on an RBI single by Mike Tyson in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
