Overcoming their own defensive lapses, the Cardinals outlasted the Reds, 10-9, in 13 innings, as Terry Kennedy brought the Redbirds from behind with a one-out, two-run double. The Cards trailed, 9-8, going into the bottom of the 13th when Garry Templeton opened with a walk and, one out later, Keith Hernandez singled to bring on Mike LaCoss in place of Paul Moskau on the hill for the Reds.
