Ed Ott went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs, one on a solo homer, to pace the Pirates to a 4-1 triumph over the Astros. Ott singled home the first of two fifth-inning runs and the second tally resulted from an RBI groundout by Dale Berra.

Mike Easler stroked a run-scoring single in the sixth and Ott's round-tripper came with one out in the seventh. John Candelaria scattered eight hits in recording his fourth complete game of the season. [The Sporting News]
