Reggie Jackson belted two homers and Luis Tiant threw a four-hitter in going the route for the first time this season as the Yankees posted an 8-2 decision over the A's. Jackson homered in the first inning to stake the Yanks to a 2-0 lead and clouted a solo shot in the ninth. Bob Watson and Graig Nettles each added two RBIs as N.Y. moved 16 games over .500 and opened up a five-game lead in the A.L. East. [The Sporting News]
