Steve Kemp grounded out, but Champ Summers followed with a game-tying double. Ricky Peters ran for Summers and scored the winning run on a single by Al Cowens.

In the second contest, Reggie Cleveland, making only his second start in three years, pitched three-hit ball for 7 2/3 innings to gain credit for the victory. The Brewers picked up a second-inning run on a sacrifice fly by Sal Bando and another in the third on a sacrifice fly by Sixto Lezcano.
