Spoiling Billy Martin's first appearance in New York as Oakland manager, the Yankees walloped the A's, 15-7. In achieving their eighth straight victory, the Yankees got five RBIs from Jim Spencer and four from Joe Lefebvre.

Spencer hit a three-run homer in the third inning and singled for two more tallies in the eighth. Lefebvre rapped a triple and two singles to account for his RBIs. [The Sporting News]
