Terry Kennedy hit a pair of three-run homers to power the Cardinals to a 7-5 victory over the Reds. Two walks, a single by George Hendrick and Kennedy's first homer sent the Cards ahead, 4-0, but the Reds came back to take a 5-4 lead with the aid of a two-run smash by Dan Driessen. However in the seventh, Ted Simmons and Hendrick hit singles and Kennedy won the game with his second homer.
