Led by Joe Rudi and Rod Carew, the Angels defeated the Red Sox, 4-2. After the Red Sox took a 2-0 lead, the Angels erupted for three runs in the third inning. Carney Lansford singled and scored on a double by Carew. Jason Thompson walked and Rudi then batted in Carew and Thompson with a double.
