Tony Perez drove in two runs and triggered a four-run, fifth-inning outburst with a two-out triple to spark the Red Sox to a 7-2 triumph over the Yankees. Perez drove in a run with an infield out in the third inning to put the Sox ahead, 2-1, and doubled home another tally in the sixth.

In the fifth, Perez tripled and scored on a single by Butch Hobson. Carl Yastrzemski then drilled a two-run homer. Dwight Evans continued the attack on Ron Guidry with a two-bagger and scored on Glenn Hoffman's triple. [The Sporting News]
