A homer by Claudell Washington with two men on base climaxed a four-run fifth inning that carried the Mets to a 6-5 triumph over the Cubs. The Mets trailed, 5-2, when Elliott Maddox led off the frame with a single, went to second on a single by Doug Flynn, advanced to third on an infield out and scored on a groundout by Lee Mazzilli.
