A two-run homer by Aurelio Rodriguez in the eighth inning lifted the Padres to a 5-3 decision over the Giants. The game was tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the eighth, with two out and nobody on base when Gene Tenace was hit by a pitch. Rodriguez then followed with a blast into the left-field bleachers. John D'Acquisto pitched five hitless innings of relief to gain the victory. [The Sporting News]
