Dave Winfield drove in five runs, including three in the first inning with a homer, to spark the Padres to a 7-3 victory over the Giants. The Padres routed Giants starter Allen Ripley in the opening stanza with five hits, including Winfield's round-tripper and an RBI double by Dave Cash.
