Bill Nahorodny hit a two-run homer with two out in the ninth inning to give the Braves a 5-4 victory in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, but the Padres came back to win the second game, 3-2.

In the nightcap, Jerry Mumphrey led off the Padres' ninth with a single, stole second and advanced to third after the catch on a long fly to center field by pinch-hitter Von Joshua. The Braves walked Bill Fahey intentionally. Dave Cash then grounded to first baseman Chris Chambliss, who threw to catcher Biff Pocoroba, but Mumphrey slid in safe. [The Sporting News]
